When was the last time you cleansed your heart? The bible says in Proverbs 4:23 to guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. What does that mean? It means that whatever we allow in our hearts, if left unchecked, will be expressed in our lives either positively or negatively. When we don’t clean our hearts, it can cause us to expire. How many times have you heard that someone passed away from a heart attack, and when you find out who it was your in shock because that person was in the best shape possible according to what you knew. They exercised, ate right and appeared to be in good health. But how was their heart? Now I am not saying this is always the case, but some of the time it is.
If you know anything about chakras, there are seven of them, they are wheels of energy in the body that start at the crown of your head, and travel down the body to the base of your spine. The fourth chakra is located at the heart and when it becomes blocked, you may find it hard to develop and keep healthy relationships. There was a time in my life when my heart was really ugly concerning certain people. Mostly because of what I allowed them to do to me. My heart was hardened toward them, and I would get angry every time I thought of them, heard their name or saw them. I had to continuously ask God to cleanse my heart. What I found that helped me tremendously was praying for them. Now I wouldn’t say an elaborate prayer, I would just ask God to bless them every time I was reminded of them. For example: when Manuel would cross my spirit, I would say out-loud “God bless him.” That was it. The more and more I repeated those words about him, the more my heart became soft. I no longer harbored any malice in my spirit towards him or anyone else who may have hurt me.
The bible teaches us in Galatians 5:22:23 that the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness (generosity), faithfulness, gentleness (humility) and self-control. As we continue to discipline ourselves in these areas and continue to be grateful every day for what God has done in our lives we will win in the area of our heart. We must find hope when things look hopeless, do our best to forgive those who have wronged us, try and love our enemies instead of just loving those who love us. It’s like Tupac once said, “tomorrow I see change, a chance to build a new. Built on spirit intent of heart, and ideals based on truth.”
Every day we are blessed with, is a day to start fresh. Clean out your heart today. Recognize the lesson you learned from the situation and move forward. Don’t let your bitter heart one day stop beating and you never are able to enjoy your life to fullest. Do your best to operate in gratitude, hope, forgiveness, and love. A clean heart is a free heart.
Sending you love, light and positive vibes,
