This week was super busy for me as I attended a "write camp" as a mentor while also working my full time job. I was literally burning the candle at both ends. The last time I worked two full time jobs was during the beginning of the pandemic. The energy that you need to function is insurmountable. Even though it was tiring, it was very rewarding. I learned so many wonderful things from all of the youth who participated in the writing camp. I did not write a specific blog for this week, instead I wanted to share a poem I wrote when I was going through a tough time a few months back. I hope you are blessed by it and it encourages you to keep forging ahead.
XOXOXOXOX
Don't Give UP!
Sometimes you sit and think that you're just not enough,
You have so many problems and are trying to be tough,
Life hasn’t been fair and it’s been difficult for you to smile,
No one knows your struggles, that you just walked that green mile,
Do me a favor and put your hand on your chest,
Can you feel the rhythm of your heart, you can, well (honey) your blessed
There is reason you are still here on God’s green earth,
You have purpose, close your eyes and visualize your worth,
Do you remember that person you smiled at the other day?
They needed to be seen, went home and said to themselves, okay,
You can do this, you got this, you will conquer this task,
You don’t have to hide any more and you can remove your mask,
Life is throwing you curveballs and you keep striking out,
Sometimes you may have to switch lanes and take another route,
It may take you a lot longer to get to your destination,
You better not drive too fast your will receive a citation,
Rome wasn’t built in a day and things will always take time.
There will be stairs and hills that you will have to climb,
Take your time, pause and reflect on how far you have come,
You are an overcomer; a fighter and the victory will be won.
Now is not the time for you to give up, cave in and or quit,
Just swing that bat a little harder, look at that you got a base hit,
Life is lifing, things are happening but keep running at to your own pace
You didn’t make it home but look here at least your on 3rd base,
Keep putting one foot in front of the other and hold your head high,
Cry, yell and scream if you need too, if that helps you get by,
Remember storms don’t last all days and you will pull this through,
I am standing in agreement and I believe in you!
Don’t Give UP!
End Poem
Sending you love, light and positive vibes,
