It's the start of the 3rd week in 2025 and I am here to report that I have already crossed off 1 square on my bingo card. I feel super accomplished and excited about living with intention in this season of ME. I can hear you now asking me what that goal was so I will answer you, Hahaha. I told myself in 2024 that I would start my personal therapy journey in 2025, and I had my first session the first week of January. For those of you who have read my first book Identity Cry-Sis, you know most of what I have been through in the first 45 years of my life, and I have never once been to therapy. Those of you who know me personally know that writing has been my therapy for so long and still is. But I am at a season in my life where I really need to understand myself more and figure out why certain things have happened to me and for me. I have always said I didn't need therapy, but I have been encouraged by close family that I would benefit and enhance my quality of life with therapy. For those of you who look like me, who desire to obtain therapy, and you live in Washington state, I suggest you log on to https://therapyfundfoundation.org/ and get started on your personal journey to health and wholeness. If you are not a resident of my state and you desire therapy, I suggest you perform a google search and locate a program in your respective area.
So, I ask you, have you been able to cross any squares off your bingo card? Or mark off something on your vision board? If not, are you working toward the goals you have set for yourself? It's not just about writing these goals down, you have to create a roadmap that transforms your vision into a reality. Are you making room for your God to work in your life? If you are finding yourself unsure of how to do this let me give you a few pointers.
1. Start each goal you want to achieve with clarity. Understanding what you want and why you want it is important. Ask yourself, what is important to you?
2. Use the SMART framework
*Specific - clearly define your goal. Instead of "losing weight," say "exercise for 30 min 6x a week.
*Measurable - include metrics to track your progress. (creating a spreadsheet or use an app)
*Achievable - ensure the goal is realistic given your finances and the amount of time you have.
*Relevant - align the goal with your broader aspirations
*Time-bound - set a deadline to create a sense of urgency.
3. Break your goals down into smaller actionable steps to build momentum.
4. Visualize success - picture yourself achieving the goal - how does it feel, what does it look like?
5. Create your plan by writing down the steps, resources and support you will need.
6. Stay Accountable - share your goals with a friend, mentor, or accountability partner with regular check-ins.
7. Embrace Flexibility - life happens to all of us and sometimes plans have to shift. It's okay to revise your path as long as you are committed to your end result.
8. Always celebrate your wins, BIG or small. Each step forward is a testament to your hard work and dedication.
9. Reflect and reset. Once you have achieved a goal, make sure to take time to reflect on your journey. What worked for you and what did not.
Goal setting is not a one-time exercise, it's an ongoing process of growth and self-discovery. When we set clear, actionable goals, we empower ourselves to make intentional strides towards the life that we want.
We must recognize that the act of setting our goals isn't just about our destination - its about the person we are becoming along the way. So, I dare you to dream BIG, start small and continue moving forward in your journey!
Sending you love, light and positive vibes,
Cassie K.
